Sometimes in the near future you will be seeing this character making a cameo appearance from time to time. This is Col. Beauregard J. Southbound Confederate Air Force Retired.
This is a character I did on the radio back in the 80's. I was asked to make some personal appearances so I had to become the Col. I did and I had a great time with the character and with WHBQ radio in Memphis, Tenn. I also had weekly conversations with Bob Dearborn who was then host of the nationally syndicated "Night Time America". I have always wanted to do a comic strip about the Colonel (even before I started doing comic strips). I am just inserting him in the Gatorhead strip from time to time and I am not really sure where this will go in the future.
I just wanted to introduce you to the Colonel because he is kind of special to me, what with all the memories and all so say hi to Col. Beauregard J. Southbound, Confederate Air Force Retired.
(I used an actual picture of me dressed as the Colonel as a model for this drawing. Of course the picture was taken nearly 30 years ago.)

Wondered why he was wearing your sunglasses. Did you ever dress up as him for your appearances?
ReplyDeleteYes. I became the Colonel for personal appearances. I used a photo of me from the 80's as a model for this drawing. I will post the photo in the future.

Good for you!! I like it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great drawing, Bo! I can't wait to see this character show up.
ReplyDeleteCol. Beauregard has an amazing history, Bo! The only time I was ever on the radio I broke it! Anyway, I'm really looking forward to more of the Col.! :)
