EXCUSES

Hi, I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'.
I just want to update ya'll on some things.
I know ya'll have been waitin' on the edge of your seats for the announcement of the winners of the Lumpkin Awards. Each category got about one vote and trying to computerize the total and find a winner caused my computer to become so frustrated that I had to take all my stuff off and reload windows. I am trying to find the software to reload all my other stuff. I have the data files but can't find all the program disks. Due to lack of interest (on your part and mine) there will be no Lumpkin Award announcements.
Due to having to have another medical procedure done I got a little behind on my productivity and therefore am running re-runs on weekends sometimes. Running the re-runs has caused the web-page not to load some of my post automatically that I have put up. I am working on trying to correct the problem. I thought I had it solved when I got one of those wireless cards to connect to the internet but it was too slow to work with and I had to take it back. I am now back to having to use public connections or go to a friends house.
Also after having had the procedure on my legs I feel good enough to do other stuff and don't have to sit around the house and that cuts into my computer time.
I just thought I would let ya'll know what's been goin' on so you would maybe understand when some things (like my email list) don't get out on time.
I hope ya'll will keep checkin' on what I've been thinkin' and will also let me know whatchall been thinkin' by leavin' me an email at bo@bolumpkin.com or bolumpkin@gmail.com. Or you could just click on commments and leave a comment. It's real easy to do.

ELECTRONIC AGE

Hi, I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'.
One of the things I've been thinkin' a lot about and I done wrote about it several times is the economy. I keep hearin' that we have a worldwide financial crisis.
All week the President and First Lady have been sashayin' all over Europe, meetin' with the Queen and conferencing with other Presidents, Kings, Dictators and Potentates. Just to put it in simple terms it looks like to me that the world is goin' down the tubes financially and all the world leaders are jet settin' all over the world and Partyin' like rock stars.
Do you reckon ain't none of them or the people they got workin' for them ever heard of teleconferencing. Shoot I got a little old $300 netbook computer that has a web-cam and I could talk to folks face to face all over the world if I just knew how to use it, and I will figure it out. They ought to know of someone in the government who could set up a thing like that and then they wouldn't have to haul 5 or 6 hundred people all over the world and feed 'em and put 'em up in hotels and all.
I don't like to be one to complain but I just think a little common sense should go with the job of leadin' our country. As the old sayin' goes if a man will watch his millions his billions and trillions will take care of themselves. I just want to say to all the world leaders, Hey, ya'll just pick up the phone and reach out and touch each other. If you don't agree instead of walkin' out of a meetin' you can just hang up.
I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'. Whatchall been thinkin'? Leave me a comment or write me an email to bo@bolumpkin.com or bolumpkin@gmail.com.
Notice! I have been sending some of my stuff to different ones by email. If you would like me to take you off my mailin' list just send me an email and tell me to stop it. I shore don't want to bother nobody.

Changing With Age

Hi, I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin.
It is amazin' how much we change over the years. What we want out of life, what we do for entertainment, all changes as we get older.
I was talkin' to an old friend the other day. In his younger days he spent most of his time either huntin' or fishin'. I think the only reason he worked was to support his huntin' and fishin'. I asked him the other day if he was getting ready to go deer huntin'.He answered, "Naw, I don't hunt much. I guess I jest ain't mad at them deer no more."
I then asked him if he had been doing much fishin', "Naw," he answered, "I pretty much always been to sorry fer much work but now I done got too sorry to hunt and fish."
I would have felt kind of sorry for him if what he said hadn't hit me so close to home.
I've heard folks say that when we get older it's time to slow down but I ain't so sure about that. We stay pretty busy with our grandchildren and then there is visiting the sick and attending funerals.
It takes a lot longer to do most stuff so that takes up more time. In old age we've accumulated more junk to keep up and more stuff to sort through before decidin' not to throw anything away.
As we get older we do go to bed a lot earlier though. We don't do that so we can get more rest. We do that so that we can get up an hour or so before daylight so we don't miss anything the next day.
I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin', things certainly do change but gettin' old ain't really so bad when you consider the alternative. I do like to be amongst my friends but I don't won't them to be peerin' in and sayin' "Don't old Bo look natural?"
