BE NICE

FEEDBACK
Hi, I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'. I'm always lookin' for ways to improve my output on this site. Feedback is important so I want ya'll to help me out. Be sure and send me some good stuff. I know something funny is bound to be happening to some of you or your kin. It is a whole lot easier to tell something on someone else than it is on yourself.
One of the improvements I'd like to make is to have some reader input. If ya'll know of a funny story that really happened to someone you can email it to me and I'll use it. You might just want to send me an email with some suggestions or just an opinion. If you have a really funny picture you want to share I might like to publish that. (Make it sort of original like one you or a friend took. All those that get forwarded to everyone have already been seen.)
I know this ain't Americas Funniest Home videos but if you have a funny one you have made send it and I might can use it. The purpose of this Website is to have fun and entertain.
I would like to get as many visitors to this page as possible so be sure and tell your friends about it or email it to them. I will be putting part of this on the site on a regular basis but I will try to add a comic or something new when I do. (People don't usually go into the archives to read something like this so I need to do it regular to remind everyone.)
Thank ya'll for readin' and especially thank ya'll for the comments. They are what makes it all worth the effort.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Hi, I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'.
This is Memorial Day Weekend. Today I hope you will be in church and I hope you take time to thank the Lord for your freedom and for the quality of life you enjoy.
That lifestyle which is greater than any that has ever been experienced in the history of the world is not something you should take for granted. Our Nation has been greatly blessed by God and we should be thankful.
Neither should we take our freedom lightly from the standpoint of what it cost us to remain free. Men have paid the ultimate price so we could have a society of freedom. They have fought the enemies of this country so that we could have the unique culture which exists here in the United States. Let us not ever forget them.
To all those who have served our country I want to take the opportunity to say thanks. To those who are still serving and in harm's way on foreign soil I want to assure you that my prayers are with you daily.
This country has not been kept free by the politicians or the special interests group but by brave men and women who were willing to make sacrifices for our freedom.
Tomorrow is Memorial Day. Let us remember.
Bo.

NICE THOUGHTS

Hi, I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'. Actually the thinkin' that I've been doin' this week has been kind of pleasant.
It has been a busy week spent mostly with my wife, my younguns and my grandson and I reckon it don't get much better than that. During the course of the busy week I haven't had time to watch much news.
When you don't watch the news you have a tendency not to think much about what else is goin' on in the world and you concentrate on what goes on around you.
I reckon that's pretty good thinkin. It's nice in the mornin' when you leave to have a wife and a dog that both hate to see you go and are glad to see you when you come home. It's nice to have a son who wants to have lunch with his folks in the middle of the week.
It is a joy to have a daughter and a grandson who love to spend the weekend and join in trollin' for treasures with the old folks.
Yep, I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'. Missin' all that stuff on the news that usually keeps my mind in an uproar ain't really all that bad. The old sayin' might be right, "No news is good news." That's what I've been thinkin'. Watchall been thinkin'? Leave me a comment or write me an email to

PAY ATTENTION

Hi, I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'.
Ya'll really have to pay attention to things to get the best bargains. I was in one place this week and I noticed a sign that said $6.99 each or 6 for $42.00. I'm just wonderin' why they wanted to charge you 6 cents more if you bought six of them.
That same day I went into KFC for some chicken and there was a long line in front of me puttin' in their order. I looked real close at the menu and you could get a 3 piece dinner of dark meat for $5.99. A little further down the menu there was a 4 piece leg and thigh dinner for $5.99. They both came with the same number of side orders and everything. Ya'll guess which one I got. I kept readin' after I had put my order in and was waitin' for it and I noticed that you could get a Wing and breast dinner for $6.79 or you could get a wing, breast and thigh dinner for $6.79.
I usually just go in and order what I want without really lookin' at the prices on the menu's but I reckon it might be better to pay a little attention. I didn't really want but two pieces of chicken anyway but the 4 pieces was the best deal and I reckon that I'll have a couple of cold chicken legs for breakfast in the morning.
I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin', from now on I'm goin' to read the menu and compare prices. Whatchall been thinkin'? Leave me a comment or send me an email to bo@bolumpkin.com or bolumpkin@gmail.com.

TROLLING FOR TREASURES

Hi, I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'.
I've been thinkin' about my wife's favorite hobby. She starts on Thursday night by lookin' at the want ads in the local paper and reading the locations out to me so that I can mark them on the City Map.
Some of the big events start Friday and some won't start until Saturday. They are listed under several different names, Yard Sale, Garage Sale, Carport Sale, Rummage Sale and a few others but they are all basically the same thing.
Without setting an alarm or without me waking her she is usually up by 5:00 or 5:30. I am an early riser every day so I am usually already up. After a cup of coffee she gets dressed and around 6:30 she says, "I'm ready to go when you are."
The adventure then begins. We start our weekend of trolling for treasures (or trash). You have to be early or all the good stuff is already gone or picked over. Sometimes there is no good stuff. Actually I am not as crazy about the Yard Sales as my wife is but I am crazy about her and it makes me happy to make her happy.
She searches for teapots and trinkets and other little things to set around for us to look at and I look for books and things like that. We are quickly running out of space. We have filled up our home, our storage shed, and the trunk of one car. I don't know what we are going to do with any more stuff.
I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin', ya'll keep your eye out for an ad in the paper for a huge Yard Sale. It will have to be both Friday and Saturday and we'll be out there early. We will have lots of trinkets, used furniture, and books. Whatchall been thinkin'? Leave me a comment or send me an email to bo@bolumpkin.com or bolumpkin@gmail.com.

WE NEED GRIT

Hi I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin'.
The other day in church a young man came up to me and showed me a flower catalog and said he was selling flower seeds for school. I told him that I didn't grow flowers I liked them wild and free. He said that was okay, they had other seeds too. I bought what I thought was three tomato plants for $10. The picture was beautiful and the plants looked like they would at least make $10 worth of tomatoes. When he delivered them they were still seeds only they were in some kind of dried dirt that you are supposed to add water too. I don't know if they will grow or not because they are still in my car.
I can remember when I was young, (I'm not going to tell right now about how tough it was back then. My sister does that better than I do.), there were ads in comic books (they are not around anymore either) for things you could sell and make money. Yes, kids were expected to do something to make their own "spending money".
Kids actually made money in a lot of ways. They mowed lawns, which was my preferred method. I used to cut so many yards wearing only a pair of cut off jeans that my tan and the grass stain on my feet would both last until after Christmas. Others would have paper routes and deliver the newspaper each day. We were not so noble in those days. We either kept the money we earned or helped out our folks with it. The schools which provided a pretty good education could get along without our fundraisin'.
There was a National paper you could sell and make money. It was called "Grit". I never sold them because I was too busy cutting grass but every time I see a youngun ask their parents to buy them somethin' I think of that paper. A way for a youngun' to make their own money.
I'm Bo Lumpkin and I've been thinkin', maybe what we need in this country is more "Grit". More younguns learnin' the value of a dollar and earnin' it for themselves so that when they get older and own their own bank or business they won't expect the government to bail them out.
Whatchall been thinkin'? You can send me an email to bo@bolumpkin.com or bolumpkin@gmail.com or you could just click on comments and leave me one. It's real easy.

LOST ON LOST
By R.E. Cline
Well, football and college basketball are over with and about the only thing left sports wise is Nascar and the NBA playoffs. I don't watch pro baseball because it is a lot more fun to go to little league games and eat a hotdog while you watch the kids play. I did get a little boost during the NFL draft but that is over now.
There just aren't many programs on TV that really interest me. If I really like a program they usually take it off the air just about when it starts to get really good. "Jericho" was such a program. I was afraid they were going to cancel "Lost" but so far they haven't.
I started watching lost when it first started and the plane crashed on that weird island that nobody knew existed. It started out kind of strange but now it has got downright confusing.
Some of the survivors went home and then got on another airplane to try to crash and return to the island. It sort of worked except some of the people wound up in 1977 and some of them wound up in the present. People keep bouncing back and forth in time and John Lock who was dead came back to life when the plane crashed on the island. If they keep on they are going to have more people come back to life than a daytime soap opera.
I don't know if you watch the show or not but I can tell you one thing, I'm just about as lost as they are now and I just know they are going to cancel it and leave all those people stranded in different times.
This has been your Couch Potato Report because everyone needs a little CPR.
