New Character

I have been doin' some experimentin' with drawin'.  While I do want to improve my artwork as a whole I also want to do some simple stuff in a little more cartoon type way.  When I first started cartooning a few years back someone told me I should find a style I like and stick with it.  I don't think he is around any longer.  I got some great advice from a lot of people and a lot of encouragement from some others and it has kept me goin'.  One of the best pieces of advice I got was from some of the greatest and that was "The main thing is to have fun and enjoy it."  I have been doin' a whole lot of that later.

As you read this I will probably be working on my new medium, sliced Cypress Knees.  These are roots from Cypress trees that I cut into disks and then draw the faces and pictures I see in the wood grain.  A friend of mine went to the swamp yesterday and brought me back four large ones and I can't wait to get them cut up and start workin' on them.

I decided to name the Weiner Dog  Frankie.  I think it fits.  You will be seein' some more of him later, either here or on my comic site at www.gatorhead.wordpress.com.

I am gettin' a little more productive but I am not ready to commit to postin' more than twice a week on the Gatorhead page yet.  I want to build my buffer up.  I use this blog to catch the overflow and I might be moving it to a wordpress sight soon because I have trouble answering the comments on here.

It won't hurt my feelin's none if yall tell me what yall been thinkin'.

  1. How long does it take for Frankie to digest his food?

I love, love, love Frankie! Does your wife sew? He'd be such a cute plushy. I want one!

I'm looking forward to seeing your cypress knee work. (that sounds odd) lol

    1. Sorry Jande. My wife doesn't sew. I bought a sewing machine but have never had time to learn to use it. Maybe someday.

Got to wait until the Cypress dries out. It grows in water and it was too wet to work with.

  4. Looks like his days a veeeerrrryyy long. I was having all sorts of Blogger problems, especially extreme slowness which is why I went back to WP. Trying to comment on anyone's Blogger site was a pain. It seems to have improved a bit lately so they must have done some maintenance. I personally think WP is just a better system.
